Urenna Acholonu is a 13 year old student at Benjamin Tasker Middle School. She was born and raised in Prince George’s County, Maryland. Her roots are of Yoruba and Igbo ethnicity of Nigeria. She wishes to become a mathematician and a professional hip hop dancer to one day own her own dance company. Ever since she was a toddler she loved to step and dance. Attending high school step practices with her oldest sister is where her love for dance and step truly developed. She has been a member of the Clifton Park Baptist Church Dance Ministry for 7 years. As she grew up she bettered her dancing by herself by watching the choreographer, Matt Steffanina’s videos and studying the dances, as well as practicing her dancing technique frequently. Urenna decided to start showcasing her talent at community camps and elementary school’s annual talent shows. During her 5th grade year she attended Dance Dimensions in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. When she got to middle school she was accepted onto the cheerleading and dance team. But not only is Urenna a dancer, she plays the sport, Cricket as well.

Urenna has played on 8 different cricket teams and has received 6 different trophies for either being the MVP, Best Batter, or for winning championships. In fact, as Captain, Urenna lead her team to win the first ever all girls cricket league championships in 2018. And to this day she still continues on with her cricket journey and now plays for the State of Maryland. Urenna is very active in school. She participated in the first, second, and third annual PG Math meet and placed every time. Urenna also held two official positions at her school. She was elected as reporter for the first ever BETA club, which is the honor society for the Talented And Gifted(TAG) students at her school and was chosen to be class representative for student government in her 7th grade year. She uses these activities and clubs to better her leadership skills and make an impact on her school and community. In the summer of 2019, Urenna traveled to Belize where helped underprivileged children learn about science, technology, engineering, art, and math(STEAM).

Urenna was the youngest out of all of the 2019 pageant contestants. She knew she had to step up her game and be ready for any and everything. So she practiced a lot and applied all the critics that she was given to her and ended up winning the Miss Gorgeous Prince George’s title on June 9th, 2019. She plans to use this title to encourage her peers to stay focused on their education as well as work hard to become what they want to be in life, while being the best version of themselves.
